ReplyDeleteFrom the participants’ perspective, the beauty pageants would provide some valuable opportunities for them to show themselves for the public, which are also good chances for them to establish self-confidence and develop personal growth. During this process, the participants can improve their individual abilities in many aspects, including make-up skills, social skills and leadership. Participating in the beauty pageant should also be an excellent experience of the participant’s whole lifetime.
ReplyDeleteFrom the media’s perspective, the beauty pageants are very favorable programs for them to improve the audience rating and profits because the beauty pageants bring us more interesting and beautiful things which can easily attract people’s attention.
From the point of view of the whole society, the beauty pageants should pose a threat to the establishment of a correct awareness of beauty. These activities generally establish a standard regarding how to evaluate the beauty, which focus on the outside more than the inside of participants. It exerts a negative influence on the young person’s growth. In addition, people are submersed in the fun produced by these activities, totally neglecting the real demands the whole society need.

ReplyDeleteI agree with Mamie's opinion about participation in beauty pageants, in this case it can not be harmful for people, because it is as Mamie said,"good chances for them to establish self-confidence and develop personal growth".
ReplyDeleteNevertheless, if one person from one society provide beauty pageant and the others are not participants of this, it can be harmful first of for that person and then for whole society. Thus, all the members of society should understand each other and in this situation that person feel self confidence more than enough and will not listen others opinion, as a result it will damage relationsip in society.

ReplyDeleteIt is a different question for gentleman. Different eyes will see different perspectives. The aim of beauty pageants is to choose the most beautiful lady and others are looser. The question is why do we need beauty pageants? “Good chances for them to establish self-confidence and develop personal growth” said Mamie and Galiya? Find news for the media? Don’t you think that you are just like an objects when serves on the stage? A little different view from me; you can show yourself in many different ways not only the externality. The improvement of a new period is more focused on inner beauty.

ReplyDeleteWei, I just wrote some points from the participant’s perspective. As for me, I would not choose to do this activity because I know that there are some different ways for girls to achieve their values. However, if some people have an excellent externality, I would support them to participate in this activity. Why not? In my opinion, the reason led to this existence of beauty pageant is the appreciation demand from men. Please do not say that you just focus on inner beauty. I can not believe it forever.
ReplyDeleteGaliya,You got me all wrong. It's nothing to do with selfigh girl that I will choose. Of course, boys like pretty girls, but we care more about a person's internal, not external!

ReplyDeleteI totally agree with wei's opinion. There are several serious problems in the beauty peagents. The Fisrt one is commercializing woman's beauty. Woman's beauty will be dealt like products, and it is more valuable than just being get marks by so-called specialist. External beauty can be someone's stregnths but will not be used as tools for success except of particular jobs such as actor, singer and fasion model. Secondly, External beauty is not all the beauty of woman as wei said. Internal beauty is more important in society and it will be more respected.

But, Flankly speaking, I like to watch the beauty peagents show very much.
The purpose of beauty pageants is to pick out the most beautiful women and everyone else is deemed the loser.In my opinion ,I can't find any harm for beauty pageants,like the mamie say"the beauty pageants would provide some valuable opportunities for them to show themselves for the public, which are also good chances for them to establish self-confidence and develop personal growth"

ReplyDeleteOn the one hand I'm totally disagree with Galiya. Beauty pageants cause more harm on our society! Why? Because beauty pageants like idols for girls!!!! I'm 100 % agree with Wei that "The aim is to choose the most beautiful lady and others are loser". The main word is LOSER! It's damage psychic of all girls. They want to be as beautiful as models. Girls use different diets, sometimes they don't eat at all. It's damage their health! They have such illnesses as anorexia... (It's not about me ))) But on the other hand I'm agree with Galiya that boys first of all look at the beauty... only then deep inside! So boys , please be honest!

ReplyDeleteon the other hand, i think Beauty pagenants does not bring any benefit to us, it just give the rich people provide a way to relax. just one or three girls can win the final match, and then? disappear....perhaps, some film company will provide a job for them.
Beauty pagenants is just to satisfy the upper social personages'needs.
I can add also that the girls should be more simple! Maybe, you misunderstand me, because in my point of view beauty pageants cause more harm than good!!

ReplyDeleteFrom my point of view I think beauty pageants cause more harm than good emotionally and physically. Beauty Pageants are a complete waste of money and time! They require hours and hours of practicing on a stage and I believe that these pageants should be stopped because its destroying women around the world, while young girls thinking that beauty is only skin.
On the other hand, people enjoy watching beauty pagents and make an argument who is the winner
I would like to say that I agree Alina's opinion. Beauty pageants seems like a idiotic competition. First, Never judging a women by appearance. Second, It is always different view of beauty for everybody. Third, the Beauty pageants make the people think about that girls want to be flattered to their vanity by their appearance instead of their virtuousness and immaculacy.
ReplyDeleteI also think beauty pageants do more harm than good .people should not puzzle about their looks that it depends on the nature .the champion of this competition can’t be proved anything. It should be focus on the aspect about the charm of one human’s personality. And on the other hand, the beauty has not a fixed standard; it was like a saying that A thousand readers have a thousand Hamlets. It is a quite different about everyone’s definition of beauty; it is hard to fairly judge who is the most beautiful.

ReplyDeleteThere are so many interesting views from the gentleman above, I am quite agreed with Moongi’s view “External beauty can be someone's strengths but will not be used as tools for success except of particular jobs such as actor, singer and fashion model.” In my opinion beauty pageants sometime will limit the participant’s career development; maybe some of them also have other’s talents in other field. If someone won in the pageants, there must be many people from entertainment or media chasing after her. Most of the chance, she will chose to develop in entertainment industry.

Some of them may believe beautiful is one of the most important factor to achieve success. And some beautiful girl may believe success for them must be very easy they don’t need to work hard.

For my point of view I think beauty pageants cause more harm, because beauty pageants make girls are like goods.
Although the participants of beauty pageants are now focus on not only beauty but also wisdom and well breeding, their stander of beauty is kind of sick that girls have to be as skinny as they can.
Many young girls make the top model or the winner of beauty pageants as their idol. They try their best to follow their idols which make them eat nothing to keep thin and live for the material. It’s unhealthy to the society it’s not a good effect on society.
I am fully agree with Ailina. Beauty pageants cause more harm on our society! Firstly, everyone has different opinion of beauty. I don’t understand why they always judge a lady by catwalk with bikini!! Everyone has her strengths on different things.
ReplyDeleteWhat is more, as they mentioned, beauty pageants make girls like a product. I do not think they can gain anything after the competition. Some of us mentioned they will be more confident. But how can those losers be confident? Beauty pageants are just activities which provide a lot of gossips and discussions. You can search Miss Hong Kong, then you can find out a plenty of scandals.
So, beauty pageants cause more harms than goods.
I agree with Wei's idea that the improvement of a new period is more focused on inner beauty. The beauty pageants is a competition has some evaluate criterion. Generally with this competition,judges just have a short time to understand every contestant form some parts of outstanding show. The show on the stage such as swimsuit,formal dress, it is just looking for the most beautiful face girl not the real beauty . Measure with this criterion is too unilateral that leads a bad atmosphere, every girl will both have a dream ,if they have a pretty face they can be the no.1.Is it a very funny opinion? So i think beauty pageants impact is more harmful than good
